SAM SWANK
Sam Swank’s work is rooted in a lifetime with the instrument. On stage, in the studio, at the workbench.
His career has taken him from international performances to intimate rooms, from major theater productions to detailed restoration work, always with the same focus: making the best music for the moment.
Sam has toured with Olivia Newton-John and performed in the York Theatre’s Blind Lemon Blues, with appearances at the Guggenheim, Forum Meyrin in Geneva, and the Festival de L’Imaginaire in Paris.
His studio work includes recordings with Ray Wylie Hubbard among others, and contributions to film, including The Big Buy: Tom DeLay’s Stolen Congress.
Along the way he has worked with artists including Stewart Copeland (The Police) Deranged for Orchestra tour, Andy Timmons Band, Johnny Reno and the Sax Maniacs, Sara Hickman, Elizabeth Wills, Phyrework, and more.
A Dallas native, Sam moves easily between acoustic fingerstyle and electric guitar. His path began in 1968, inspired by Hendrix’s Are You Experienced, and deepened through classical study with Rick Madriguera, Tom Johnson, and Andrés Segovia.
As an instructor, Sam works closely with players to build confidence, expression, and a stronger connection to the instrument.
SCHEDULE A LESSON
"I work with players at every level and in every style from classical and acoustic to rock & blues electric. I retain many of my students for years, because lessons are built around what you want to play and how you want to grow. If you’re ready to sharpen your sound or try something new, I'm here to help."
INQUIRE ABOUT RESTORATION/REPAIR
"Whether your instrument needs major maintenance or a few precise adjustments, I can get it playing clean, strong, and performance-ready."
